An interesting article
This, on the other hand (compared to Payne-Gallwey), is a valuable translation of an important Western Islamic treatise on archery. There are many important techniques described here and the exposition of the schools of master archers is probably more accurate than that in Saracen Archery.
Is that the Faris & Elmer thing?
Faris and Elmer, Arab Archery. Even Latham and Paterson cite it as more reliable. They had access to the Kitab al-Wadih which had more details of the schools and was early. This gives weight to there opinion.
Is this still available somewhere? The link is dead, unfortunately..
There is announcement:

The problem with the link is that they changed the words "Arab Archery" to lower case making the URL invalid. Try - http://www.tuba-archery.com/article/arab-archery.pdf
