More Bow Forms
With the previous talk on bow forms I have a question about looking ahead to my next bow. My current bow template is for a 44? bow. I needed pull in a lot of reflex to make the tips touch. Is there an advantage to steam bending in some of this reflex in the sal area at the beginning of construction? This would mean the horn would be initially glued in with reflex. I would think the horn would have more energy stored when strung. I would like to start working on my next bows as I am still waiting for my first bow to season. I want to put my energy (and money) into continually improve performance from the same bow core, I have no wish to test different unproven materials.
What changes should I be trying???

i put up a picture of one something like this recently, and the big dogs said no good
Radius, the bend here is in the sal, not in kasan as you had. It is not the same.
The more reflexed sal will make a faster bow, but with the curvature comes the risk of the layers coming apart as the sal is flexed. It is safer (for a first bow) to make the sal straight and experiment later. First, make sure your methods to make the bow are correct, then experiment with the designs. Otherwise it is hard to tell what went wrong in case of a failure.
