Hi.
I looking for information about the Uryankhai or Tuvan nadam bow.
The information i have now is.
Lenght: 2.5 meters
Material: Birch
String material: Hemp.

On the pictures it look like the bow has a mixed shape between a english longbow and a flatbow.

Do somebody know somthing more about this bow?
I have a birch tree drying and it?s about 10-12 cm and 3 meters long.

It's really a challenge to use superior technique over inferior materials. I was told that these bows are not kept after the end of the competition year in which they were made. The one that I shot was quite bare of any decoration. The impression I gained in Mongolia is that this form of archery is retained for the sake of preserving a tradition but is not taken too seriously.

Sometimes less is beautiful, who need iron?
The one who need, let him dig for iron then.
There seem to be no rules how to make these bows, everyone look very different from the other beside every bow is very long and i think the first thing that draw the atention to the bow, is it?s enormous size, and only then you begin to search if this bow could be beautiful in some way.
But i really think it depends on who have made it, maybe even in what mood he was.
The bow on this picture look well done, somthing more than a simple stick.
Was thinking what could the brown stripes in the bow be, leather or birch bark.
