Hi everyone?
Because of my babies, I stoped learning archey for several years.
Now, I'm back with different name, because my pre-nickname 'sosohi'
can't log in.

During the resting stage, I'm get old ^^; my english get short.

But, I kept my promise.
I made the Dong-gae, tradithional korean quiver and bow holster.

Welcome back Sosohi.
I had to re-register to post here on the new forum but I was able to keep my name from the old one. Perhaps my account had been closed due to inactivity, I'm sure Stephen could help with your old username if you'd rather keep it.
By strange coincidence, I was only reading one of your posts in an old topic a few days ago.
The quivers are stunning!

Quiver are beautiful and inspiring. Korean archery I really like it. I also made a quiver of bow and arrows according to the Korean model. Your quiver is definitely nicer. But I have a new inspiration.

Very cool!

Lovely actually.

Could we get some photos of them in use?
Kviljo
Good clean work! Impressive!

Are they (and the sizes) based on old original quivers?

Thanks to all.

I like new nick-name. ^^

jchocz, may I see your works?

WillAdams, you can see my blog (http://sosohi.egloos.com/category/%EB%8 ... 4%EA%B8%B0)

They are based on the Joseon Dynasty(1392~1897) quivers.
11cm small quiver, it's later Joseon period's typical size.
And, the donggae's identity is three color(blue, yellow, red) needlework. If not, it is not donggae, it is manchu style quiver(i think^^)

Our ancestor used many material, pig leather, cow leather, fish leather, silk, velvet etc.

I would like to to side track the topic a bit and refer to the OP's website: http://sosohi.egloos.com/8631101 The photos seem to show something bows similar to the Kai Yuan Bow?

Before your work is deep bow. My quiver look beginners.

That is translation of the Ming's matial arts book.
My quiver look beginners.

Yours are beautiful!
Korean's tradithonal goods are mostly 'simple' rather than 'beautiful'.

In case of traditional korean quiver, it needs three colored needle work, patterned metal work, two pieces body.

I am making one piece quivers for horseback archery field test, and club(Jung) archery.

It is a copy of the Wu Bei Yao Lue (Ming). The bow is a typical Ming bow. It is not the Kai Yuan style.
WarBow
Thank you Stephen.

nice works!

Do you use left hand for shoot?(because of bowcase)

Someday, I'll publish how I make the Korean quivers.(now, It's dificult to explain english, have no time to take picture etc....)
dady
no, I use right hand and I made bowquiver like that because I want it to be orientated to back not in front of me.
maruchi
If you are left-hande archer,(not ordinary right hander)

your bowcase and quiver's form should be like this,
maruchi
I want it to be orientated to back not in front of me.

In case of the Korean bowcase, It need an essential accessory 'ddidon'.

You may know 'dog's hook', (-the same theory / 360-degree revolution)

By using ddidon, your bow case can face forward or backward.
dady
yes, I know, thanks, that's what I used but I didn't make any ornaments on the other side of the quiver and in those photos I posted it's not finished. ;)
jiao
you are a good father in your family,
what configuration of the so short quiver?
maruchi
Hi jiao, no-war has made the quiver short
