De-greasing Sinew
Does anybody here degrease the sinew after it has been shredded? I have purchased dried elk leg sinew and have started to shred it. The sinew seems grease free but would it hurt to wash it in acetone? Does acetone degrade the sinew? Is there some other way to remove any grease residue?
Just use multiple washes with strong dish soap. That will remove residual grease. Acetone won't degrade sinew but unless you get pure acetone you're probably adding more residual contaminants than if you just wash the sinew well with soap.
