Dear friends,
I have a nice occasion to inform you that my article ??L?archerie m?di?vale serbe?? (Serbian medieval archery) is published in French TIR A L?ARC magazine. This article is a synthesis of that which I came to in my research , searching for a lost tradition and very little treated part of the medieval Serbian military history, relying on written documents, fine- art among the Serbs, literature, archaeological exavations, oral tradition, preserved or restored tradition of other nations and cultures as well as many discussions right here on ATARN. This is a good basis for further research.

I have to thank Pierre Lansac for excellent translation and also to redaction, Peter Dekker and dr.Uli Wellner for suggestions and kind help, Stephen Selby, Jack, Bede,Adam,Du?an, Murat,Scem,?piro Stojanović and all other atarnites which in any way contributed to the creation of a new image of the lost part of the medieval military history of the Serbs. I really didn?t have enough space to treat all the aspects on the subject but some stuff is published for the first time, e.g. Serbian bone thumbring (prsten strela?) excavated in the remains of Prince Lazar's town near Kru?evac (big thanx to National Museum in Kru?evac). So i will tend to stay productive and give more informations in the next paper.

I have presentation/lecture in National museum Toplice on mid March with assistence of Antal Kabacs so i will send report.

You can take a look on magazine using the link and then feuilleter cette revue option. Article about archery in medieval Serbia is on pages 32-36 , and excellent article on Manchu bows in Crepy en Valois by our friend Peter Dekker on the pages 66-69.

Hi people,
As I promised, here's the report. The twentieth of March my presentation ''Lukostrelstvo u srednjovekovnoj Srbiji - tragom izgubljene tradicije''/''Archery in medieval Serbia- tracing a lost tradition'' was happened in National Museum of Toplica. First of all, I did not expect so much of the audience (close to 100 people who did not know anything about archery), National Television and interest. That has added extra excitement. From the very beginning I felt like a student who has his exam first time and the audience was greeting my visual excitement. During the hour the crowd without any word followed what was happening on the video beam, historical background, wall paintings, the story of the Serbian bows and their making, famous Serbian villages bowyers, quivermakers and arrowmakers that made tournament and war bows and arrows, Turkish, Hungarian, Mongolian and other types of hornbows, material for making bows, real bows and arrows... Antal Kabacs made the audience breathless by his demonstration of firing the arrows by thumbring release. My narration was sometimes below my level, why should not I be honest, although it is not easy to deliver first-born baby, you will agree. Story about Serbian thumbring that finally came home (thanx Zack) get great ovations. And it was interesting special thanx to the guys from Serbia,Montenegro,USA,Deutschland, France,Nederland,Canada, Hungary, Belgium, Bulgaria,Turkey, Kazakhstan, Romania,Slovenia,Slovakia, Croatia,Norway, Mongolia, Iran, Argentina,China,Russia,Italy, Korea and Indonezia which contributed anyhow...and special special thanx to Stephen Selby and ATARN on the last slide (logo looked nice). Amazing the fact that the audience was more than satisfied and that they knew every detail that was presented after we finished. So, the real story started with a team and restoration of lost traditions finally begins.
Here are some pictures, will insert more.

Zoran Pavlovic
Yep! It gave me courage to continue. Thank you Uli!!!!!
Zack
We have to do same thing in Military Museum in Belgrade.
Zoran Pavlovic
Zack, it would be great thing, but don't you think we should finish our reconstructions of quivers and bows/rozanac first before we do it in Military museum? Did you notice st.Procopius's quiver from Pecka Patrijarsija, similar to Arcat Del construction, wooden frame?
Hm, i was blind all my life, some day ago i ''discovered'' that unknown warrior saint in local so called Latin church is depicted with beautiful bow/rozanac, another one for the reconstruction. Also, must check out other churches in the area, i focused myself only on monasteries and churches built by Serbian rulers and not smaller churches. Our ancestors left us with so many signs.
Best regards,
Zoran Pavlovic
Wow, i am proud to present report about mentioned event published in Hungarian. Nice. Thanx to journal from Temerin.
