I made water buffalo horn thumb rings and have been using one of them. Someone asked if I would sell any thumb ring and I said that I do not sell but I can give as gift. Since I cant know his size and he lives far in Kayseri/Turkey, I offered to send him several thumb rings and after he finds the one fits him he can give out, the ones he can not use, to people in need. I will be happy If I can help anyone to enjoy and get involved more in Traditional Archery. Buy my problem is, I can only try the black one. The others are all different sizes and I am not sure their thin shape would will be ok. Do you guys think I can send these thumb rings or I should make new thicker ones.

hi,
Randy (Gaur in Atarn) sent them here to Canada from Thailand. Horns that I will use for bows are regular but Randy sent some albinos for me extra to give my cousin to use as knife handle. I wish they were Turkish horns.
I checked how transparent they are. Clear enough to read texts behind it.
But not all of them super white.

Nice rings you made from those.
How did your brother like them for knife handles?

They look wonderful. You should go into business selling them.

I make mine from pvc, and they are functionally perfect, but never as pretty as the horn.

Very nice work.

Bravo beautiful rings.

Nice rings, but they look more Korean than Turkish beeing so flat.

Korean rings tend to be thick at the tip of the lip and thin at the opening for the thumb. Most Turkish rings I have examined made from stone or ivory appear to be the reverse with thin lips and thick bases. Flatter rings were often associated with Iran, but Qajar paintings suggest that this is simplistic since most rings are shown deeper.

My cousin didnt have chance to use in his projects yet.
Ive never been good at selling anything. I was soo happy when I gave 2 rings away in our local primitive skills gathering. Two primitive bow making bowyer never had chance to use ring and they were soo happy to get right size rings.
My next rings will have ticker base and more curve on the lips. It is so valuable to get information to improve what we do. Thanks Bede and Adam.
