Very nice dens osage.

I am going to make another semi compozite, from this osage reflex stave, i am thinking 2x25 cm strips of horn after the fade no backing.

You really should remove all the sapwood or else that stave will check so much it will become unuseable. If sapwood is to be left on osage then it must be left on everywhere, bark intact and ends sealed. As you have removed some I strongly recommend getting it all off asap.

Thank you for the advice, but so far i have had no problems with checking on this stave. On the ends to prevent splitting i have used 2 wood vices to keep the ends in pressure.
And also i will show u how much reflex it gained from this procedure. The stave is now dry the horn plates have been cut, its time to get to work more pictures to come.

I will use some of these pieces of horn for the belly of the bow.

careful, don't cut the tips of the horns, that's the best part..

Yes i know but because the horn was crooked and twisted :( i could not obtain a full strip out of it, even if i did the strip would been to crooked to be used for a full horn bow. So i cut the tip intro 5-6 smaller strips 15-20 cm , for semi composites.

The stave is now dry....and gained some reflex. Only 3-4 checks on the handle but they will cause no problem.
