Turkish Quivers
Hello Dear Atarn Community,
I would like to share with you the bow and arrow quivers that I got very recently. The metal ornaments are hand carved silver and the quivers are made out of goat leather.
I hope you like it too:

Looks very good! and smooth.
it looks very nice, the silver work is very good. Unfortunately I believe it's not practical because the leather is too soft. Whoever built it should of used a wooden frame, and then cover it with a soft leather instead.utkuculha wrote:

It certainly would not be difficult to make a thin wood frame to slip inside the quiver and stiffen it and hold the mouth open. Heck, the silver work makes it worth the purchase price!
It looks like the leather is for making jackets: chrome tanned and very thin. The metalwork is beautiful. Perhaps it would be better to use the leather for a pattern and remount the fittings on a firmer vegetable tanned leather of 3 to 4 mm thickness.
Thank you for your comments. You are correct, the leather was a little thinner than I have expected. However, it still can hold its own weight when hang from a belt. Actually the greater expense was the silver carvings, so the leather can be changed.
As Bede suggests, I might use the thin leather as a background for the carvings and attach onto a thicker leather.
