Hello,
I recently bent up my first Turkish bow core. It is a 90# replica from Adam's book and is made of green hard maple. Any advice or critique would be welcome.

I think that looks very promising. Looks like it will have quite some reflex in the kasan and tip. It could be a small beast :)

I sure hope so! This is going to be a replica of a 90# bow. I am going to have to use every trick I have seen in order to get it to hold together. I am thinking that both a convex belly and matching groves are going to be necessary with this degree of reflex.

When you set the cores aside to dry do you normally allow them the full 3 months as indicated in Adam's book?

Cool! A convex glue line will make it even better looking.
I made a lot of cores some years ago, so I've been consuming those for a while. Considering the major amount of work going into these bows, I would prefer a fully dry and stable core before putting on the horn and reducing the core to the final dimensions. Even just a little warpage (if that's a word?) would put unnecessary stress on the glue line.

90 is good :D

Have you laminated that core? Or just removed a lot of wood from the start of the kasan outwards? To remove cracks from bending?

A very large splinter lifted while I was bending the core. I didn't want it to lift further so I cut the splinter off with a hand saw. The splinter lifted on the same spot of both limbs, so I think that I will need to either make a form with a lower amount of reflex or boil my wood longer.
