HHAS autumn flight shoot 2015
On behalf of the Hungarian Historical Archery Society (HHAS), it is my pleasure to extend the invitation to our society’s flight archery competition held on this September 27 in Hungary.

Dear friends!
The flight race and test had done.
Our rawhide and silk strings was working fine on heavy bows too. The only problem was, we couldn't pull tham to full draw.
It was terrific to shoot with this strings on race conditions at first time.
Weather conditions was high Rh, strong and cold back wind.
Results schould see at the link below.
There is some more data than the distances. String material ( animal: goat, elk, horse ),string weight, arrowhead tipe and weight ,full arrow weight and shaft material on the war flight table etc.

In pictures I see all bows are not natural materials. There is some fiberglass bows too. But cause I cant read Hungarian language, I dont know from results is it done whit fiberglass bow or natural material bow?
What was longest shoot whit natural material bow and whit natural arrow material?
all glues have to be fish/rabbit/hide glue in natural made bow.

There were our friends from Italy. Some of tham shot with modern bows.
Monus had shot at out of race, just for fun.
All of our bows, arrows and most of the strings in the race made from100% natural materials as the rules allows.

Congratulations! Looks like it was a very good competition! Fantastic pictures.
Noticed that some people are shooting with the traditional method - thumb ring release and some are still using a Mediterranean draw which makes it no so authentic in my opinion.
Maybe that should be incorporated in the rules in future competitions.
Also,
I have emailed to the admin of magyartortenelmiijasz.hu to join the group but sadly no reply from them. Is that a closed group or is it open for the public such as Atarn members?

Yes some of us shooting with two or three fingers on the race. ( like me too)
But there is members who practiceing just with ring and learning the historical ring methods.
We have to working on this ;)
There is a lot of things to do and this reduce the pracriceing time.
Anyway we couldn' t close out the two or three finger pull . There is some
biography which say, all method ( two, three and thumb finger) have to practice for an archer. Will link it...
