Osage and Horn
Hello everybody,
Is it possible to make an Osage Recurve Flatbow with a Gemsbrok (Antilope) Hornbelly ?...without sinewbacking.
The Bow should be about 60" long.

hi,
why do you want to enforce osage?
The use of osage makes a hornbow to heavy. A hornbow without sinew-backing makes no sense.
I never use osage for hornbows, it is to heavy, it is difficult to glue cause it is so dense. Let the osage make a bow by itself.

On Ferret?s page I?ve seen an osage bow with oryx belly and was wondering why one would do that

It was in the "Awesome wooden bows" section somewhere.

Hi,
At the picture below, there is a Osage bow with horn, sinew and snakeskin, from an american bower. about 950 US$.
But i think i let the osage be osage.

There is a report in "Primitive Archer" about Gemsbok/ Osage. If I find it I`ll tell you in which of the earlier issues you find it.
