This bow appears to be a composite, complete with only 41" length (how they measured it I don't know). Being wood though, it's unbraced profile is nearly the same as the braced profile would be. Is this a standalone example of this type of bow, or would it have been a cheap display bow only?

I don't think that the description's correct. I think it's a wood/horn/sinew bow.

I don't remember the bow when I was there so I have asked Dr Grayson what he knows about it. I will let you know.
Bede
Dr Grayson, says the bow is a horn and sinew composite and probably Persian in origin. The bow had been left strung for a long time when he acquired it which accounts for its current shape.
