International Horseback Archery Competition in Qinghai

With the support of the People's Government of Qinghai Province, Haidong County, People's Republic of China, we will be holding an international horseback archery contest together with a Tibetan-style archery contest on foot from 1 - 3 July 2006.

As it will be combined with a traditional Tibetan horse festival, this should be a spectacular event. We have a Hong Kong team, Tibetan team and Korean team pledged to attend. (Further teams welcome.)

We will use Tibetan rules for the archery contest on foot (a simple shooting match with traditional bows at a range of about 90 metres.) Contestants must be prepared to dance, sing and drink prodigiously. Tibetan hospitality is fearsome. Forget lamas and incense: this is the real thing.

The horseback archery competition will be run according to Korean rules as no local Tibetan rules exist at present.

The event will be held in Xining. There is a good airport and transport is relatively simple.

I shall put up details on ATARN soon. If you are interested in competing or attending, please let me know. I can also arrange for official invitations letters if needed.
