Some years ago, Gary Ellis (former editor of Primitive Archer magazine) sent me a 1962 issue of Archery magazine. It had a story about Korean traditional archery at that time that was written by a US military officer. I sent scans of it to Mr. Lee Geon-ho of archerynews.com and he had it translated into Korean and put up on his site. You can see both the original article and translation at http://archery.news-paper.co.kr/news_vi ... id=&ss_id=

Thomas,
Milan Elott was interested in Korean Archery. He included several pictures of traditional Korean archers in a book, Why We Miss, and discussed their techniques in the context of modern Western sport archery.

There were at least two other articles in the magazine on Korean archers. A friend, David Skinner, gave me copies many years ago. They discussed training techniques among other things.
Thomas Duvernay
Bede,

There was another magazine issue that Milan Elott wrote an article for (I have it somewhere, but couldn't find it); however, that was the only article on Korean archery I could find in that issue. There was an article on some GIs shooting over in Okinawa, though.

Some years ago, after receiving the magazine issue, I tried contacting Mr. Elott. Eventually, I found a nephew of his living in Washington state or Oregon (I forget which). The nephew told me he had passed away some years prior. He also told me that Mr. Elott had had quite an archery collection, but after he died, everything disappeared; I guess his widow got rid of it all.
