Another Chinese bow porducer in Beijing?

Hello everyone,

Recently I found a link from Alibaiba which is an online yellow page sort of thing in China, selling Chinese traditional bows and arrows. The bows and arrows offered by this online seller looks almost identical to the bows and arrows produced by Mast Yang. Orininally I thought this guy must be the agent for Master Yang and that is great, but after I discussed this matter with Master Yang, apprently Master Yang knows nothing about this and has never appoint any agent selling his products for him.

Thus I wonder, does any of you (especially archery friends in Beijing) knows anything about this seller, especially the quality and performance for the bows and arrow this seller offered.

What I want to say is, it will be a very good news to see if there is acutally another person in Beijing who is producing Chinese traditional bow, but what I dont want to see is a situation where some business man using some tricks (such as buying from Master Yang in Quantity) and sell them under his own name without the knowledge of Master Yang.

The link in Alibaba with the product offered is below:

This seller's home page is below:

Good catch Greg !

He has another website :

http://www.hanwind.com/chanpin-5.htm

The arrows in the vase look definitely Juyuanhaoesque, but the other separate ones are more "korean" in my opinion, except for the arrow-head.

We called the mobile phone of the guy, he says he sells mostly to Turks (?) and Korean customers. He doesn't know Juyuanhao or YANG Fuxi.

His workshop is supposed to be in Tongzhou (east of Beijing) but he does not have any finished bow to show because he says he sold them all.

He also says he can make a bow in one or two weeks only but then you have to wait a drying period of a few months before you can use it.

Strange... to be verified.

Thanks Romain,

After looking at your link, I definitely think I am smelling something fishy here!

The corss bow for shooting pellet looks identical to the ones produced by Yang Fuxi, as a matter of fact, I just brought one from Master Yang a few weeks ago, so I am very sure on that.

This situation definitely worth to look deeper into.

Don't the arrows look a little short for Chinese bows?

The bows illustrated are made by Ju Yuan Hao.

Oh, in that case, Stephen please inform Master Yang about that.

Any way, Romain, do you still do archery practice lately? I was in active for a year, now I want to be more active and do more shooting practice. Next time when you go to archery practice, give me a call and I will go and shoot with you. My phone number remain the same. I now got a car, so driving around is much more convinent for me now than before.

Best regards,

Greg

Is the bow a horn-wood-sinew replica; or is it bamboo, plastic, fiberglass, etc?
