While browsing the photo section I noticed some arrows with indian style heads. Where can I obtain some of these? Also does anyone know of a source for central asian or mongolian style arrowheads?

I sometimes come across old Central Asian arrowheads - most Mongolian and Khitan iron hjeads from the 10-11 Century. They are not so diffucult to find. I may have some spares.

Hi Stephen,
Are you selling these?
Stephen Selby
Well, I don't really buy and sell stuff. I am happy to give away one or two; but I hope people can pay back the postage cost.

Some arrowheads from our last visit to China. I bought/found them on different markets. (There are some other ATARN members with big collections ;-)

Thanks for the feedback everybody Those antique heads are realy neat. But what I amlooking for are some newly made items I can mount on some arrows. Are there any of these being made today?

I was wondering if you can answer the purpose for some of those arrow heads. Why did they use the chisel (spoon) type. What was the rod used for. And one you do not have. Is the crescent moon, The egyptions seem to like that one. and others.

I believe that many of these arrowhead types belong to a belief system not defined by aerodynamics. -j-

The cylindrical ones are for a form of target shooting. The spade or fan shaped ones were supposed to cause large wounds when shot from heavy bows at unarmoured enemies and when hunting.

I have often wondered how they would fly at longer distances.

Large crescent-shaped arrowheads were used in Britain for bringing down fleeing horses - you cut the tendons on the horse's hind legs. I don't know how they were fletched. I can't remember the book I saw this in, sorry.
