I cut some of this wood awhile back. The staves nearly came with the shape they still carry after miminal tweeking. The 1st bow I did was from a solid peice and I made a "dragon-skin" bow with some paint, for my son.

The second bow I added long siyahs for an Hungarian style design. I am still working out the final decorations on the Hungarian bow, useing felt and hemp wrappings over black-leather backing.

Hello Thimo,
I really enjoy seeing your bows on Paleoplanet. Didn't you think about making a finno-ugric style bow, like the ones in Ragnar Insulander's article about the two-wood bow?

Thankyou. Yes I am still working on that bow. I'm waiting for some junper/ERC to season a bit more and backing it in birch wood and then wrapping in birch bark. I have the bone already from a deer skeleton I came upon a few months back. Wild dogs hand buzzards had already done the dirty work for me. :D
