Core wood
Is there really much difference between different woods used for the core? I understand maple was the most popular among Turkish bowyers as was bamboo in the Far East, but how about other nations that made composite bows?
On a related note, I'm planning something along the lines of a Magyar bow these days. I've been meaning to get some maple but then, I already have some nice ash in the basement that would be perfect for the project. Would ash be acceptable? I've noticed several members have used it in the past.
