Im still non the wiser!! I do agree that trying the bow is best but Quicks in Honiton are (i pick my words carfully) prats!! so i wont waste my time.

As said before i have had the Kassai Wolf II which i found to be quite long (for horseback archery) the look of his bows are lovely and every one of them have great curveture (which personally i like). I havent tried any others wich maybe unwise???

To the Grozer i have tried a laminated Hunter recurve which not only did i not like in the hand (the wood was slippy) but it was very twangy when letting the string loose (hope this makes sence) twangy, hard almost uncomfortable. but once again i havent tried any others. For looks i like the Hungarian, Sythian and one other (?) but i obviously dont know what they shoot like - now if they are all similar i may not like them??!!

As for Saluki (Novotny bows) his bows start at $600 for a horsebow which once imported to the UK i suppose im looking at ?380 approx, but then if you want extra woods and not the basic bamboo the price goes up then if you want a different riser, stactic tip and decoration then you have to add $35 - $40 per item extra. Money is always the pain in the backside but for a "really good" bow i think its worth it, seeing i only realy want the one maybe 2 bows i dont mined having a Kassai/ Grozer as well.

A lot of you guys here seem to have many bows each so if you where to add the total cost of money spent on bows it adds up to alot (probably more than a Saluki) and for me i can only use one bow at a time (and im FEMALE!!!!! :D ) i just want to spend the money wisely.

i do have 2 pixs of the bows they are - Damascus & Genghis - the Genghis is based on the Genghis dynasty which was apparently found in accilogical(SP) digs, this would make the bow based on Mongolain style, seeing that the Huns & Mongols had very similar taste on the style of bow saluki i would say that the Hungarian/debate is pointless :)

granted the saluki bows do not look like the typical Hun/mongol with the curves and ears but if it proforms then shorly we can put aside our vanity for such extras??

There was a question as to what im realy after in a bow so i will explain: -

neat and settled in the hand with no shock (to be like a women smooth and tender with a big heart)/ smooth to draw and quick to release/ no whip back on the string/ plesent to look at but not essentail/ Laminated (a must) and i want to be able to hold my arrows in the bow hand. right now you know what i want whos making it for me??? :P

Hi Flynn
I fear you will get much the same, answer wise, as in your last post. People can only offer their own opinion and there will be many different opinions
Personally, I would suggest Kassai's Falcon1 Hun model. It meets all the criteria you mention plus it is the bow of choice for Kassai himself. Incidentally, since you mention the length of bow, it is longer than the Wolf but many of his female students manage with no problem at all.

My wife has used a Grozer Hun for years and has been very happy with it. She was concerned about the length of the Falcon1 as her bow is 'small and easy to carry'. After trying the Kassai bow, she is no longer concerned.

Being able to 'try before you buy' is always best in priciple but not always so easy in practice, I certainly would be very unhappy to find out the bow I just bought has been 'tried out' by who knows how many people before me. The people at Quicks may not be that knowledgeable about Asiatic bows but they may have a small selection that you would be able to try (providing they have your draw weight)
Do you know any archers using this style of bow who are prepared to let you try their bows?

Finally, many have mentioned Eastern Archery and Reiner Wustefeld is a true gentleman to deal with.
Good Luck!! I hope you find your bow.

I'm a 5ft 6 female and I have no problems using a Kassai Buzzard off my 15.3hh mare. I only have the one bow at the moment and due to affordability I want to get next an old Scythian from Grozer as I have heard plenty of good stuff about that bow (smooth drawing and no hand shock), but if I have the money I'd like to get either a Turkish or Crimean Tartar from Grozer.
