On YouTube and other such sites there are numerous videoclips, such as this one:

At the german group Die Steppenreiter's page one can also find a few videos (can't get the direct links to Google Video to work right now). You'll find them under http://www.diesteppenreiter.de/info.htm and then open upp further with pressing the little button-thing by "sonstiges" and then scroll down.

Aside from that, you only really need a bow you're comfortable with and a bunch of arrows. For the sport most use a quite soft bow, between 28-35 lbs or so.

Artemis,

Here are some key points:

1. Whether you do well depends as much on your horse as on you. Many good horses have become dependent on their rider's contact (mouth and saddle) in order to work well. They must lose this dependency and work independently in order to support you on horseback archery. So invest a lot of effort in training your horse.

2. Even though you are a good rider, start off your training on a lunge rein (long rein held by a friend). This will help train the horse not to speed up or take fright because of the different feeling. Do not be ashamed to go back to these beginners' methods: they are for the horse, not for you.

3. The horse's reaction is not to the shooting of the arrow. The whole position of your body when you shoot will feel strange and unstable to the horse. A very good horse may slow down or change position to stop you falling. A poor one will take fright.

4. For yourself, remember that the most difficult challenge is nocking the arrow at the canter or gallop. Do not ignore this point. It's no good hitting the target just once and then not being able to nock again.
