visit to Germany
Greetings I plan to be in Germany starting October 3rd for two weeks.
Would like to hear from any of you horse archers that I could perchance visit with. I will be staying in Plietzhausen Germany.
All the best,
Alan

Hey, cool! I will be dropping in for Die Steppenreiters competition in Burg Satzvey, only to visit not participate. This takes place on the 11-12 October. I guess Lancelot can give more details, but just so you can find the location here it is at Google Map.
According to a quick calculation that should be about 3, 5 hour ride, for reference (add an hour or so due to traffic jams and the likes...)
If you understand German, you can check this forumpost for more exact info (I'm the one with the post in english in that thread).

Hi Alan!
you're in luck, there are two competitions taking place during your stay. Rob has already mentioned the second one, our final competition for the year. There is another one this coming weekend in Neulingen-Bauschlott (near Pforzheim), which (I just looked it up) is one hour's drive (75km) from Plietzhausen (I suppose that is the Plietzhausen by Stuttgart?). Lots of people are coming, we are doing a korean-style competition on the one day and the hungarian on the other, as well as a non-mounted competition. The competition in Satzvey is quite a bit further, about 400km, but perhaps you might find someone in Neulingen who you could travel with?
Here's the thread about the Pforzheim/Bauschlott competition: http://www.fletchers-corner.de/index.ph ... ic=10282.0
If you don't speak German, just post your questions in English, in case you have any queries about hotel or getting there etc.
Hope to see you there!

Angela,
Thank you very much for your reply. I will try and make it to this event if possible as it is so close to where I will be staying with friends.
I will just be arriving on Friday so do not think that I will make it then but perchance Saturday or Sunday. I would guess that Saturday would be the best day to attend if I had to choose between Saturday or Sunday, what do you think?
Look forward to meeting you and the other participants.
All the best,
Alan

Hi Alan,
depends. On Saturday we start at 12 (so you could sleep long that day) with the hungarian-style competition (For details, see: http://www.diesteppenreiter.de/img/unga ... riante.jpg , after that is our German speciality called the "J?nger Prize" (named after the kind sponsors, Mr and Mrs J?nger) - we shoot (from horseback of course) at a copied 50-Euro note, the first one to hit it gets to keep the original (although it usually gets spent at the beer stand within minutes). Lots of fun, but over too soon!
On Saturday the fun starts at 10 with the hunter-style competition to foot, where we shoot at rubber animals. Perhaps you would like to take part? Borrowing a bow should be no problem, if you haven't brought yours. After that is the Korean-Style competition, with single, double and multiple shot. http://www.diesteppenreiter.de/img/korea_variante.jpg
Of course, I would suggest coming both days so you don't miss anything!

See you there!
