Very impressive bow. What is the weight? Looks like it will exceed 60#. Also, courious as to what woods you used.
yokhua
This is a very narrow core only 2.5cm(1 inch) wide, and very short bow(102 after strung) My target weight will be about 80~90#(OK for me). My purpose is to build a very fast bow with ultra light physical weight. The prifiles on its grip and siyans can achieve that.
Mostly maple, except siyans.

Yokhua,
This is a very beautiful bow. I really like your bows and craftsmanship. Is that a traditional Turkish horn wrapping tool? It looks like one from Korea.
yokhua
It is a traditional Turkish horn wrapping tool called "Tencek". I made it myself, It is similar with Korean one,yet bigger in its size.

Yokhua, in the current issue of 'Primitive Archer' (Summer 2005), there is a very good article by Dr. Grayson explaining the function of the celik as well as many ideas about the physics of Korean and Turkish bows. I'm sure you'd find it interesting.

Yokhua,
Do you just use the tool on the horn and core? On the Korean bows, there is a spacer placed on the back so the tool can go around in a circle and not across a flat back.
yokhua
The point is this is a much thicker wood core compare with bamboo, so I don't need those, yet trimming job after that is tiresome.
Samuraiwarrior
Yohua, what kind of tools do you use on your bows. Hand tools or power tools and what sorts?
Do you use a jig to cut the splices, or an electric saw to trim the core?
yokhua
I'm building one bow each time at this moment and all I was using are hand tools. Adze, File, chisel and hand saw.
I cut the wood by hand and you know "eye ball calibration"! 8)
Some day, If there are some one buying my bows and more bows I have to build at one time, I then will buy some power tools to do the job, yet I'm not used to handle the power tools right now. Need to get some hands on the power tools, think that will be easier and faster for me to build bows.
