hi everyone, this is my first post :)
i am Yeochang Yun in korea,
i have a hobby, korean traditional paper art.
this quivers are 99% paper, but not a traditional quiver design.
we have many kind of quivers. paper, wood, bamboo, leather
but i think, paper quiver is best thing.
it's very light and tough and more beautiful.
(but water resistance is very weak)
so, i want make leather covers now.
i need some information for this work.
what kind of leathers are best? for quiver?
and i also need know leather care.

Mechwar,

I also live in Korea. I have a traditional paper quiver (지전통) that was given to me years ago by a Korean bowyer friend. Even though it is made of paper, it is quite durable. You can probably make yours just as durable.

These paper quivers are quite cool. How do you make them? Is it a little bit like Kashmiri paper mache?
mechwar
no paper mache, it's just mat board and loctite401 :)
and that pattern is very ancient 28 constellation in korea or china.
sometimes i use this old symbols for my work.
daryush
Oh right. So it's like laminating sheets of paper together with loctite I guess? Thanks :)

However, if you ever want to try making traditional paper quivers, it is quite a bit like papier mache. You have a wood core, which the paper will be rolled onto. The paper is the traditional hanji made from mulberry fiber. It is coated with rice glue and wrapped around the core. After all the layers are done, and it is completely dry, calligraphy and such can be applied. After that, it is coated with an oil to preserve it.

If the paper could be properly lacquered, would it be weather-proof?
