Thumb ring critique
hey everyone, This is the second hard thumb ring ive made, and I was wondering if there is anything ergonomically or technically bad about the ring, and if it fits in with any particular category like Middle-Eastern etc.
It's a pretty flat ring made of Ipe and shoots pretty comfortably.

I don't like using a groove on my rings as it interferes with sensing the angle my thumb is making with the string, etc.
If it's comfortable as it is, I don't think there is much wrong with it ...

Nothing negative except the overly large out of focus photos had me thinking I was going blind.
I like a groove-less ring as well, and prefer mine without the leather strap. Can't tell - is your hole oval or round? I make mine witha slightly oval hole from Ebony, Wenge and Snakewood.

It's oval, my thumb is wider than it is thick. I haven't tryed a grooveless thumb ring yet, but might eventually. I'm actually looking into making leather ones though, cant get one that is thick enough to take the pressure and still allows the string to sit securely near the joint...stupid tiny thumbs.
Yeah sorry about the pics, couldnt get the camera to focus at that distance so I had to take it from farther away and crop it.
I added the leather tab to give a bit of padding and to give me something to look the string through so I can loop around my wrist. heard a bunch of horror stories about guys losing their rings in the grass.
Thanks!
