Turkish hornbow core shape
This a picture of the shape for a turkish hornbow core former. This is what I have managed to draw/come up with from Adam K's excellent book. What do you guy's think of the shape before I go and actually make the former. My cores have been soaking for over a week now so I'd better get the forms made! Any ideas welcome.
Sorry for the poor quality picture but I think you can make out my shape!
The sal is too curved (I understand the entire sal is shown). It is safer to make the sal straighter for safety in the first bow. The straight kasan in the picture is good for stability though (it will become a little more curved anyway after sinew). I see you allow for springback in the tip/kasan angle, but perhaps too much.

Thanks a lot for the info Adam. It was quite difficult to try and get something down on paper when I have no idea of the shape i'm drawing! So the sal should be straigter for longer, eg 'uncurl' maybe the first couple of inches into the kassan bend and slightly less of a bend at the tip.I will do a revised drawing and post some pictures tonight.
It is the easiest to simply copy the shape of an old bow with the siyahs pointing up. And try to make the first 3in of kasan straight right below the tip bend. This will allow the string to clear the kasan when the bow is strung (below the loop knots), which helps stability.

Now I understand why you're the Master, Adam. You see things that others can't 8)
All I can make out in that far too large and too blurry picture is a blurry black curved line on a much folded piece of paper! Nothing to indicate scale, bow parts or anything; just a curve!

It was the first time I had posted a picture on this forum and had no idea that I had to sort the scale out before posting. It wouldn't have been so blurry if it hadn't been blown up so much? Yes it is just a curve! The 2 rulers were there to give some idea of the scale, it isn't a folded piece of paper it is actually different pieces sellotaped together so I could draw said curve at 1:1 scale.
Again thank you for the advice it is greatly appreciated. I didn't get a chance to draw the 'revised' shape of the form yesterday but will definatly get onto it today and post a new picture to seeif I can get a little closer!

Click on the picture to see it scaled down.
This is the 'revised' shape for the core former that I have come up with. Any comments gratfully received.[/img]
The sal will extend past the bottom right corner by 3 inches.
