I have been tempted to order a bow from www.monglianarchery.com but I thought maybe I could get some feedback from you guys if any of you have any experiences with their products.
Welcome and Just take a look around. Some colleagues here own one and posted their impressions

:) Dont do it, mi friend. I have this bow in hand. Shooting vith him... Years ago, but i think stil same bad bow... We somwhere in Atarn talked about.
I cal this "Mongolian" bows "stone throwing". Heavy/weight/ extremly slow bad bow.
This bows haevn any continuity vith Temudzin era bows.
(One adwantage is here. Horns. True Ibex horns. Once/in mi ill fanatic head / i think that buy some bows , put in water and use Ibex horns in mi projekts...  )

I have some of these bows from Mongolia. They are well-fit for the very restricted purpose of shooting in the Khalha Naadam traditional competition. But they are not a great general shooting experience and they are traditional Manchu bows, rather than traditional Mongolian bows.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I am looking to buy a horn made recurve bow and this ones pricing was good, so it caught my eye, but with the feedback, maybe I should rather look elsewhere. Any suggestions on a decent bow? I am in Beijing.

Beijing...Yang Fuxi is the expert there, but Im sure that Mr Shelby can quote a dozen other experts. I would wait for his words...

Yes, i have gone to see him. I am concerned that most buy hs bows as art, and I would like to use it regularly....so I would appreciate feedback on this. Also Yang Fuxi does have quite a high pricetag for his bows, and I am curious to see how this compares to other producers at the same price (saluki, or Kassai etc). So I would really love some feedback on this.

Saluki bows are the top of the line, and they have the top of the line price. If you want a cheaper horn bow go for a Grozer bow, if you want the best go for a Saluki or a Jaap Koppedrayer bow.

I have one such bow, but its damaged.
authentic style with all-natural material but
"manchu" design
bamboo core
not too good shooter
however still the price was cheap and I dont want to miss it from my collection.

There is a much better bowyer in Mongolia who lives in the north of the country. I believe Stephen Selby might have mentionned him in one of his articles.
He is on Facebook - MongoliaBow Archery (I think) and also sells bows at a similar price. There is much less handshock on those models and they are smaller also.
mongolianarcher
I cant use facebook, is there a way to find out about his bows?
Uli
I also have seen and shot 3 bows from him, and yes these are better
though not as good as a korean trad bow
Uli, do you have that bowmakers' email or something?
I don't go on facebook so I wonder if you have any info that can be used to contact him.

I have one of Jaaps bows, the South Indian style and I love it, I have seen him work and he is the best bowyer that I know of. I would truly love to have a Mongol Bow of his, and/or Manchu.
The massive bows used in the Naadam are interesting to me in their own right as they duplicate a once war time technique. I am a novice actually in Oriental Archery but admire their bows , every style and time periods.
I have seen and handled Lucas Novatnys bows, they are beauties, and works of art, I have shot one of his Mongolian style horn bows, but it was way out of my budget, but, for the time , work and quality of it I think it was priced accurately.

Can you please PM me a picture of it! I have always wanted to see pics of that bow!
Jake Levi
I dont have any pics of it, but it is featured on his website, which I dont have handy, I'll look for it.
One pic shows 3 of his bows stacked/standing, I believe the South Indian is center and to the right, they look very much like my bow. Long, elegant, and powerful . Little to no wrist shock.

Do you have any pictures of the bow in full draw? I have never seen the bow shot before. The double-curves is very interesting. Did you ever see his Mongolian-Chinese glassfiber bow? I have shot that one before. And I also shot some of his Korean bows that he had on hand from Korea. Did you shoot any of his hornbows?
Jake Levi
No, no pics although I am sure that they do. I havent shot any of his horn bows, but really want to. What I am working for is a Mongolian and a Manchu bow. I expect I will get a bow of Mariners , his Xing model. On the Mongol
I am looking at what is available, and also what can be done. I would really like one of Jaaps Mongol horn bows.
I am slowly gathering material for a Mongolian build, but thats happening slowly. But it will be.
