Processing sinew question???
Hello Folks. Got a couple of questions here.
I just started processing my sinew fron H&H last nght and since I've never processed sinew before I was wondering...when I started it seems there is a like an amber skin or casing on the exterior, very tough, so I did not try much to shred that part...I went for the stringier stuff inside.
Is this outer surface actually just dried sinew itself? and can it be used once shredded?
Secondly, as I carried on, I found that after I shredded down to smaller than 2MM in width that I started breaking the strands. Do I shred it down to this width, then comb it out to further shred the strands?
Sure could use some help. Adam's book is great, but there's always a question or two.
Thanks

if you have problems with too dry sinew you can put it in water for 1-2 days, let re-dry a bit, then separation of the fibers is easier. at 2mm the fibers should not break yet , split them down to like hair thickness best with bare hands
the outer layer may be the peritendineum - use it for glue making
