Hi, Bowyers & archers!
Today in the morning I went to a slaughterhouse & I bought fresh killed cow legs :D . And now I prepared this beautiful :D Achilles tendon.
I have only six tendons, & will it be enough for my composite bow project? or I must go to butcher once again :?
Uli
it might be enough for one bow but I would buy six more.
then you can also make glue of the low-quality parts.

Did you miss some of the upper part of the sinews ? Note that you might not get strips from whole length - only until the bifurcation !

Hello Uli :D
Why only until the bifurcation? I worked with cows and deer tendon, and never had a problem to divide the entire length.
Uli
Hey PAZUZU !
well.. then I am doing something wrong :?
the fibers cross at the bifurcation
I can only get very few of full length
AND those usually have no constant thickness..

Finally I shred them to fibres! I've tried to clean fat & grease with a knife, but I think not so clearly that I wanted.
So I think I shall put them in to the bottle with aceton.

These probably need to be broken down more. The large pieces will need to be made into at least three. In my opinion.

Hi Jack! the final thickness must be about 2mm ? like a horse hair on the horse tail? And soon I can put them into aceton? ( This only a sinew backed bow project)

Raphael; They must be as soft as a piece of yarn. Use an awl to separate. There must be no crunchies on the ends. Cut these off. The bundle will easily hold itself together without string.
