Sinew - how thick on bamboo?
Hello, I faced a problem with sinewing a all-bamboo bow.
It was designed as a mutch onger bow but as one limb broke near the tip I cut the other also and gave it a sinew backing. It has a pretty short bending length on the linbs (~40cm) with ~60# at 30". Handle from fade-out to fade-out is ~50cm (I know thats too mutch but the bow was designed for ~ 185cm ntn)
I first made ~2 layers of sinew but at one limb the bamboo core broke unter the sindew layer after 3 month. I dont think there was already a failure in the bamboo as I shot the bow a few month even without backing.
My question: how thick should the sinew be on a bamboo core? Are two courses enough to prevent the back from the stress? I'm trying to repair the bow and would like to reach the save side...
