Hi,

I saw on another forum that Thomas was thinking of doing a thumb ring using tangua nut (vegetable ivory). Has Thomas or anyone else tried this yet? Is the vegetable ivory durable enough?

I never got the chance to try it (and I forgot about it while I was here in the States). I hope someone tries--I think it would work.

Okay, I will pick some up soon and give them a try. At a buck canadian for one nut, it's worth the experiment. I will report back on its sucess or failure.

I was trying to make one earlier today but I realize that it might be too brittle and does not flex enough so it might break easily. It might be possible but I would make it thicker than usual. I made some from cow hooves I found in a petstore. It was stinky but works really well. I had to spray it with lacquer to neutralized the smell.

Here is one I just made:

I am not sure if I am actually going to use it :D
