hello Enno,

the most bending section in the right arm of the bow seems to be shorter, but I don?t know if you want it to be the upper arm of the bow.
What?s the drawweight right now?
enno
it is 40# at ~29

and it is pure sinew bow- there is no horn...

Enno,

is that really true?
I guess you mean that the bending section is made of pure sinew. The grip and the siyahs are made of wood?

I?ve had the idea to do the same when I had the bad experiece that a whole sinew-backing exploded away from the wooden part of a bow.
I wanted to do one of these West Coast-style so called paddle-bows out of red cedar and the wood seemed to be so brittle, I backed the bow very heavy. After 4 weeks of drieing the backing exploded 10m away from the bow and took one complete growthring with it.I cut the leaving wood from the sinew-backing and I had an unbreakable bow.But it draws only 10lbs with 28" drawlength.
So I ask you how many sinews did you need for this bow and how did you give the backing its shape. Is there any evidence of these kind of bow in the history of archery?

My bad... the bow has wooden parts as well. The woodcore is made of maple.

What I meant was that bow had no horn attached. Originally it was designed to be a hornbow but due to my lack of skills in bow crafting one of the hornstripe detached from woodcore. Just from curiosity I removed horn at all to study sinew "power".

At least I got a lot of lessons learned :-) And I have already ordered new pair of hornstripes.

enno,
can you give us some dimentions on the bow? I have a friend who wants to make one similar to that but we have no idea what good dimentions are. Also, what animal sinew did you use and how many pieces?
