Chinese Archery Bible by Zhang Weizhong (1934) (弓
Folks,
I recently copied out a book from PRC National Library written in 1934 by a chinese Taichi master Zhang Weizhong. It was a very comprehensive and focus literature to talk about Chinese Traditional archery (though the author says his attitude is not to revive the tradition but to reconstruct a future traditional archery). It is very applicable to the present chinese situation and good reference for the rest of the world. I will talk to Stephen and see how we can it accessible through ATARN.

Did this go any further?
I have practiced Wu style (Wudang in fact) tai chi for many years and while the style has weapon forms, spear, sabre and sword, it has always puzzled me that there seems to be no connection with archery in any tai chi I have come across.
We even see more recent, invented forms in some styles but never an archery form. So I would be very interested indeed to find a connection between archery and any internal martial art. Connections to Chi Kung and external martial arts, yes but to internal arts, no.
The only Zhang Weizhong in the internal arts area I can find is a current practicioner of bagua and hsing i in the UK. If the author from 1934 is identifiable perhaps we could have his details and lineage posted.
More generally if anyone knows of archery featuring in any tai chi lineage, or in any other internal martial art please tell me and I woiuld be very keen to follow this up.

I'm sorry, I should have pointed out that I am aware that there is a bow stance (often called a bow form) in tai chi which is a specific posture and in some styles a specific movement (bow shoots the tiger, for instance) but given the involvement of chi kung I would have expected a fully formed weapons form for archery. Or have I just missed it?
